Azure Forum Strategic Insights provide regular, timely and unique to Ireland flagship output through policy-relevant commentary on national and international peace and security issues, written by leading experts from the public/ private sectors and academia.
The Forum has established a track record of informing conversations in Ireland and abroad about international peace and security policy choices. The Forum commenced publishing its Strategic Insights in 2021. These regularly published commentaries ensure that such choices are well-informed and are based on fact and on evidence.
The series focuses on issues relevant to Ireland, small states and the international community to navigate an interconnected but increasingly polarised world. It examines national and international security developments, global security challenges and modern risks/non-traditional security risks.
This flagship series has become a ‘go-to’ trusted platform as a primary resource for different voices to facilitate better understanding of divergent approaches to these challenges and, in particular, provide insights into how Ireland can successfully navigate an increasingly bifurcated global order, drive positive transformational change domestically and influence global developments. Systemic shocks can reverberate globally, often at speed, with both local and national impacts. The series examines Ireland-specific questions; the impact of the global landscape on Ireland/smaller states and national developments that have repercussions for the EU and globally.
Commentaries are generally around 1,000 words and provide informed, verifiable, and independent content from trustworthy sources moving beyond popular commentary, thus serving to reduce information vacuums and foster an evidence-based approach to knowledge and understanding.
A core objective is that this content will contribute to protecting our democracies, especially Irish democracy, from malign influence/Foreign Interference and Manipulation of Information (FIMI) and it will foster peace, prosperity and societal resilience. This is in line with EU Strategic Compass aims to enhance our societal resilience and strengthen access to credible information across the Union. There is an important need to create a resource comprising informed and trusted analysis on peace and modern security questions relevant to Ireland, its citizens and business community. This contributes to the protection of democracy and rule of law, and fostering of national/international prosperity and resilience in the face of geopolitical risk.
